[달출] Post-mortem

Timeline:
2024/03 - Project START!
2024/03 ~ 2025/01 Development
2025/02 ~ Project END.


Objectives

  • Make a roguelike RPG with monsters that fuse during battle.
  • Practice Unity in the process!

Post-Mortem

  • I decided to end the project, because honestly I was getting a bit tired on it.

  • Development became slow when I began developing the MRHaje project.

  • Eventually, I just wanted to work on a new project that I’m more passionate on.

  • Unfortunately, I couldn’t get to implementing any roguelike mechanics (to be honest, it felt like I would have to balance the game a lot…)

  • In the end, the final product is just a “battle simulator”, with a battle system I’m quite satisfied with (though, it may be a bit unbalanced).


Thoughts

  • I’m sad that I lost a lot of my inspiration for this project, but I’m glad I worked on it pretty well.
  • I may still change some things in the game.
    • A friend recently made battle music to go with the game, so I will add that soon.
    • In case people find the game too easy or hard, I’m willing to finetune the numbers!

Conclusion
It was a great experience to develop 달출 in HAJE, and I recommend people to go make their own projects, even if they’re just solo projects! I grew a lot closer to everyone while developing my game and I felt more included as a result.
